A Chainsaw For Maintaining Your Property

A Chainsaw For Maintaining Your Property

The kind of chainsaw for maintaining your property will naturally be a different kettle of fish from those used by professional tree surgeons, forestry professionals and landscapers. Most people, and that probably includes you, you’ll only need a smaller more mobile chainsaw for the typical domestic tasks. These are those smaller jobs that you only have to do occasionally around the yard. These can include cutting lumbar for your furnace, as well as maintaining trees and overgrowth in your yard. We have one of the best ranges of chainsaws Cork has to offer. That means that we have good options that will get the job done without extra fills. So you won’t be cutting a chunk out of your wallet.

A Chainsaw For Maintaining Your Property

There are two kinds of buyer’s remorse. There’s the kind where you regret spending too much money on something you hardly use, and then there’s the regret of not paying for the machine that’ll get the job properly. Once you’re clear on how often you plan to use your chainsaw, you can make a decision that you’ll be happy about.

If you’re just cutting smaller bits of timber for your stove, or just heavier-duty pruning of a relatively light cluster of trees around your property every few months at most, then you’ll almost certainly be happy with Stihl’s MS 170. This is Stihl’s lower end chainsaw. It’s small, lightweight, compact, and can be purchased with either a 12″ or a 14″ bar length. It’s good to know in advance how thick the lumbar is you’ll be cutting. If you can make do with the smaller length, it’s handier and safer to have a smaller blade. If you think you might occasionally need the extra length then go for it. Whichever option you choose, always remember that even an entry-level chainsaw is a dangerous piece of equipment that warrants proper protective chainsaw clothing.

More Power

If you’re working with harder wood, the more powerful Stihl MS 181 C-BE is also an option. To put a number on it, this has a power output of 1.5/2 kW/bhp compared with the MS 170’s 1.2/1.6. The difference will be notable and will ensure that you get the job done no matter what kind of wood you’re dealing with – provided it’s an acceptable length for the 12″ and 14″ bar length.
